High-end Whiskies
Written by Simon Lewis

The price for high-end single malt wisky over the last decade has been increasing steadily.

rare      rare      rare      rare

Today, there are numerous whiskies that fetch astonishing sums of money at auction and in whisky shops around the world. This isn't completely surprising as many individuals have more disposable income and demand is out-pacing supply for some whiskies. This list is but a sample of these whiskies that not only command high sums of money, yet they also invade the dreams of single malt drinkers around the globe and as the saying goes; 'We can at least dream'.

(note: 1k equals $1000 US dollars)

  • Dalmore 50 yr. old  ($8000-$9k)
  • Glenfiddich Rare Collection 1937  (sold at auction for 20k and now sells for even more)
  • Macallan 50 yr. old Lalique  (selling for up to 12k)
  • Macallan 55 yr. old second edition  (15k+)
  • Macallan Fine and Rare 1926   (fetching 3.3k per dram! over 30k per bottle)

  • Glenfiddich 1976 Concorde Vintage  (price unknown as very few have changed hands and with a very small amount of bottles produced, it's difficult to know)
  • Glendronach 150th Anniversary  (3-4k)
  • Macallan 1949 Millennium Decanter 50 yr. old  (5-6k)
  • Glenlivet 1943 55 yr. old  (3-4k)
