<description>Glendronach Distillery Overview Glendronach Distillery was built in 1826. Purchased by William Teachers Sons Ltd in 1960. It ceased production and was mothballed in 2000. Based in Forgue in Aberdeenshire it is getting its water from the The Source , a spring east of the distillery. It resumed production in 2002 and was purchased by the Benriach Distillery Company in 2008. The first distillery bottling by the new Glendronach owners (http://www.parkerswhisky.co.uk/exclusive-scotch-c-21.html) is available now.OwnershipGlendronach slept for a short two years before resuming production again as an independent distillery. The Benriach Distillery Company Ltd are the new owners. LocationForgue, Aberdeenshire AB54 6DA Tel: +44 (0)1466 730202Sherry MaturationWhen Glendronach opened its doors in 1826 many single malts were matured in Spanish sherry casks. Over time the rarity and barrel price has seen a major switch to American Bourbon barrels by the whisky industry. Today there are perhaps only two distilleries that can truly be classified as &amp;#39;sherry maturation&amp;#39; houses and this distillery is where 100% of the single malt sold still enjoys its primary maturation exclusively in sherry casks.
